Fix Sprint terms

Changing someone's store needs clear rules. These terms apply in addition to our terms of service. Last updated 21 September 2026.

1. What a fix sprint is

A fix sprint is work to change a copy of your Shopify theme or WooCommerce child theme so that the findings listed in the quotation are addressed, followed by a re-test. It covers the findings and the pages named in the quotation, and nothing else. Findings that the quotation says are outside what a theme can change are not part of the agreed scope.

2. Backups and where we work

You are responsible for keeping current backups of your store, and for giving us a staging, duplicate or unpublished environment to work in. We do not change your live (production) store unless the quotation says so in writing. Putting changes live is your step unless the quotation agrees otherwise.

3. Access and authorisation

  • You authorise us to use the access you give us only for the agreed scope and only in the agreed environment.
  • Access is given by a secure route, for example a limited collaborator or staff invitation to the theme. Never send us the main administrator password. We do not need customer or order data; if the access you give exposes it, we do not copy or keep it.
  • You can withdraw access at any time. We do not access systems unrelated to the sprint.
  • We do not keep credentials, and we remove our own access when the review period in section 7 ends.
  • You confirm that you have the authority to give us this access, including under the licences of your theme, apps and platform.
  • If the work would need us to receive personal data (for example customer or order records, account data, email lists or a staging database with real personal data), we agree a data processing addendum with you before we receive it.

4. Timing and delays

Dates in a quotation depend on you giving us access and answers in good time. If access or information is missing or late, the timeline pauses until you provide it. If a sprint is paused for more than 14 days, including a pause because an invoice is overdue, we may close it, and section 9 then applies.

5. Changes to the scope

A change to the scope needs a written revised quotation. We do not start extra work until you accept it.

6. Things outside our control

We are not responsible for changes made by you or by others to the store, for platform, theme or app updates, for hosting failures, or for how a third-party app behaves. Where a finding comes from a third-party app or platform component that a theme cannot change, we tell you and do not promise a fix for it.

7. Delivery, review and acceptance

The sprint is delivered when the fixes are available in the agreed environment with a short summary and the re-test results, and we tell you so. You have seven working days after that to tell us of any defect. A defect is a fix listed in the quotation that does not work as described, or a change of ours that breaks something that worked before. A new problem that was not in the agreed scope is not a defect; we can quote it. We correct defects at no charge. Test the important paths, including checkout, in the agreed environment before you put changes live. Going live does not shorten the seven working days. The sprint counts as accepted on the earlier of your written confirmation and the end of the seven working days.

8. Payment

We ask for half of the price in advance and half on delivery. We may begin work once the first half is received; "work starts" has the meaning in section 9 of the terms of service. The second half is invoiced on delivery and is due within seven days of the invoice date. Paying it does not affect your right to report defects under section 7. If it is not paid, we may hold back further work, and any deliverable we hold outside your environment, until it is, and you may not put the changes live until then.

9. Ending a sprint early

If you or we end a sprint after work has started, the first payment is applied against the work done up to that point, judged by the share of the findings in the quotation that we have fixed. If that work is worth more than the first payment, we invoice the difference; if it is worth less, we refund the difference. Any difference is due within seven days. If we cannot deliver an agreed fix, we first correct or re-perform it; where that is not reasonably possible, we refund the amount paid for the undelivered portion.

10. What a sprint does not promise

A sprint addresses the findings in the quotation. It does not make a store free of accessibility barriers, it is not a certificate or legal advice, and it makes no guarantee about regulatory outcomes. Our disclaimer applies.

11. Liability

Section 14 of the terms of service applies, including its exclusions and its cap, which for a sprint is the fees paid or payable for that sprint. In addition, to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for checkout downtime or data loss that results from changes put live without the testing described in section 7, from a missing backup, or from causes listed in section 6, except to the extent caused by our negligence or breach, and then only within that cap.

12. Confidentiality and our working copies

We keep your theme, code and store details confidential. We delete our working copies of your theme, including backups and tool logs that hold it, within 30 days after the earlier of the final payment and the end of the sprint (acceptance under section 7, or closure under section 4 or 9), unless you ask us to keep them.

13. Security incidents

If we become aware of a security incident that affects your store, the access you gave us or your information in our hands (for example a leaked access token, a lost device or a change made in the wrong environment), we will: revoke, or ask you to revoke, the access concerned; contain the incident; keep the records needed to understand it; tell you without undue delay; and work with you and give you the information you need to meet your own legal duties. If you think the access you gave us has been misused, tell us at once.

14. Which terms apply first

The order of precedence is set in section 1 of the terms of service. For a fix sprint bought by an agency, the Agency terms apply first on white-label points.
